Looking for some new tires for my "B". Just regular 165R14, no super high speed rubber, no autocross stickies. Basically want round, legal, balanceable tires without taking out another mortgage. Suggestions please, preferably on the right coast. Would even consider good used fitting the above criteria. Thanks, Bob

i bought a set of kumho ecsta's 185/60r/14 from tire rack. look great, drives great, somewhat performance tread, and 32 bucks each.
no clearance problems, does lower the "b" about
an inch.

Like the sound of those Kumho's but am leery about the loss of ground clearance. Am already on the hairy edge of exhaust destruction just getting into my driveway. Bob
 
I replaced my old 165R14s last summer with Vredestein Quatrac2 175/70R14s. They are exactly the same size as the 165R14s were.

I paid $76.95 each for the Vredesteins . . . but I wasn't in a position to shop around. I was on the road two hours from home, on my way to meet friends for a trip to a show, when the tread on my old tires just started to separate. (My tires had barely 1,500 miles on them, but they had apparently been sitting around a garage for way too long.)

Anyway, I found myself having to replace all four tires, and was lucky to find a garage that would even deal with wire wheels and tubes.

I think Vredestein makes a 165R14 tire, though. The ones I got were all he had in stock that would fit. I'm very happy with them. That's my tire story.
 
Thanks for getting me off the dime. I went to the Tirerack web site (never knew it had so much tech stuff), anyway, started looking at specs ie: dia, tread width, section width, etc and came up with a pair of Yoko's 175-70X14 that just about match up with the 165 Michelin currently on the car. Would have liked a little more tread but couldn't afford a wider section to fit in the rear wheel wells. Instant service, tires arrived BEFORE promised date! Will mount this week and get rid of two leaky, out of round, out of balance dogs. Bob
