Wedge tire sizes for tr7

i just ordered a set of 13 inch minilites for my tr7.wanted to know what the best tire size set up would be for the street

The original tire size would be 185/70/13, or even 175/70/13. I bought a pair of sumitomo tires from tire rack, hr rated, 195/60/13. These changed the geomtry of the wheels a bit (2% on speedo), BUT THEY ARE AWESOME AND CHEAP.... $41 each. They look great, and are very high performance summer only tire. I do think you could even go to 205/60/13...I see some people have, but I do not know if this would look weird, or hit the fender on occasion. The 195's look great are improve handling.

i have dunlop gtqualifiers @ 205-60x13 on my '81 dhc. I like them, have driven them in all weather with no problems. i haven't noticed a wheel rub on sharp cornering.

thamks for the info.i ordered the sumitomo 195/60/13 from tire rack.they look great.i am waiting for a set of minilites i ordered.let you know when i get them on car.thanks again

I'm running 205-60-13's BFG''s on my stock steel rims and have no complaints at all .....as a matter of fact, I feel the ride and drive improved nicely.
And I really like the look from the rear with the slightly wider width of the tire, the smaller sidewall also apeals much more to me more than the original 70's series sidewall
NAbsolutly no tire rubb or tracking problems either .

I am sure you could change to a 14 inch rim if you wanted to; this might give you access to a bigger choice of tyres.
A TR8 I know uses 15 inch Panasports with 195/55 Yokohamas, and looks very nice. With modern size tyres the whole car looks more modern.
Simon.
