Tire sizes for 16" Panasports?

Greetings...

I'm looking for some advice on tire sizes for my new 16x7 Panasport mag wheels fitted to my 1974 TR6. I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who are currently running with 16" Panasports on their respective TR6's. I'm curious, for those who are, whther or not they went with a slightly lower profile, say 50 or 60 as opposed to 70.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Jeff,

You need to size the tires to match the overall diameter of the the original tires. It's not likely that you will find an exact match. You will need to go with a lower profile tire.
I have 6" wide 15" KN Minilite replicas. The tires are 215/65/15. My suspension is stock. I have no problems with rubbing or interferance.
As a starting point. You can check the specs on various tires on the tire rack site to see which sizes match the tires I run.
Several months ago someone had a post about 16" Panasports. It seems like he had an interferance problem with the inside rim of the wheel when backing up with his steering turned all the way in one direction. You should look into that before you mount the wheels.

That might be me!

I have 205/65s on 16" Panas. I get the wheel (not the tire) rubbing on the upper at full lock in reverse - and I turned the bolt around already. Before I turned the bolt round it did it both ways - forward and reverse. Trust me, seeing shavings of brand new wheel is not a happy sight.

I'll fix it with a bit of trimming when the car gets back from the shop.

Car is lowered using nylatron bushings and goodparts springs all round fwiw.
