What size tires should we be running on a 1966 Sprite?

I run 175/70 13s on stock rims on mine.. anything smaller will fit.. anything larger will not.

I'm going to be install 155/80 R 13 - least expensive - I think Jack runs them also

I prefer 165/70 R 13, but they are hard to find.
Are you wanting to know the correct size to buy a vintage reproduction tire?

Thats it John.

No, not interested in vintage reproduction. I'm not that familiar with Sprites, but I'm trying to learn as I go. I've been working for years putting a 100-6 back together. But we're picking up some vibration at speeds over 65 on the Sprite, and my Healey mechanic said our Sprite's tires were too big for it - it has 175/70 R13's on it now. So I thought I'd ask.

Bridgestone Pontenza RE-92 165/65 HR13 is a nice speed rated tire.

Steve

My '79 rolled on 145/13's. Wire wheels. 16570R fits nicely while 17570R13 has a slight bulge

Thanks, everybody...Maybe my 175/70 R13's are a bit large for it, but they seem within the range.

""""""and my Healey mechanic said our Sprite's tires were too big for it - it has 175/70 R13's on it now. So I thought I'd ask."""""""

Not true.

""""" we're picking up some vibration at speeds over 65 on the Sprite,""""

You have a balancing problem or possibly a worn shock or other suspension piece.

Or a bad U joint or out of ballance drive shaft.

I'm running 155/80/13 Kumho Power Stars from tirerack. They're sort of too tall, and too skinny. They bend over too easily.

I vibrate at 65+ too, but that's because I happen to be in a sprite

It needs 5th gear and someone to tighten up the front suspension including my wheel bearings.
