Tire Doughnut

Hi,

Although I have a brand new, identical sized spare that is already mounted on my fifth wheel, I am thinking about buying a "doughnut" tire to throw in the rear boot area of my bugeye. I have mounted a lock box and also have a subwoofer and amp in the back there--so space is getting pretty tight, and this idea might save me some room. Hadn't thought of the idea until I saw one on a Sprite listed on ebay (pic attached here)...

Does anyone know where I can pick one up? I don't even know where to look.

Thanks.

Mustafa

I use one from an older Saab in my B trunk.

Now, this is based on a 40 foot picture and the comment from Tony, but that doughnut looks identicle to the one in my Saab 900S (new generation body style).

May be a dumb question...does the saab bolt pattern line up correctly?

Or is the ebay seller just using it to basically wheel the car around until it gets sold?

Yes, it fits perfectly....& mine are off a Saab 900S.

Acutally, I believe the Saab wheels are a 4x4.5 bolt pattern whereas a Spridget wheel is a 4x4. Not positive about the exact bolt patterns, but I'm pretty darn sure that a Saab wheel won't fit a Spridget like Tony is saying. It will fit an MGB though, which is probably what he meant.

Yep, Jeff, I'm talking about my MGB's...but the photo he attached shows one mounted on a Midget; here's that photo:

however, that doughnut is not like the early Saab 900 ones I use - mine have a series of holes around the diameter.

VW donuts fit Spridgets (100mm)
But it's just a tad smaller that a Midget full size spare.
Why bother?
If space is what you need, get a can of fix-a-flat /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Your lug pattern is 4 bolts on 4" dia.
I would bet that doughnut is from a Japanese car with 13" wheels that have 4 bolts on 100mm diameter.
The 100mm is very close to 4" and they will "fit" (sort of) but I would not recommend it.
