Tips on timing cover install

I am putting my timing cover back together and want to make sure it won't leak. Normally I would just slip the crank seal in, put a little permatex high temp on the gasket and call it good. But with the high quality and accurate stamping they did with this cover (sarcasm?), I am worried about it sealing. So, should I put a bit of permatex on the crank seal between the seal and the cover? And any other advice?
 
You will want to slip the crank pulley on to center the cover before tightening any of the bolts. I usually turn the crank too just to be sure.
 
So I am putting things together, and I had the starter out to jam up the ring gear to torque the crank bolt. Well I am trying like heck to get the starter back in, and somehow I got it out, but for the life of me I can't find the magic angle to get that sucker back in. Ten minutes of trying to get it in and I am pretty angry. My seven year old son gave me some great advice and said "maybe you should work on something else for a while". Sound advice.
 
Make sure the cover flanges are flat you need to put it on a flat surface.

You working on it too hard. Just kind of wiggle it down in there. Should be easly done. One man job, maybe 5 min all told.
