General MG Timing Cover Oil Seal

I have a British Frame & Engine crankshaft TR3 damper conversion kit for which I cannot find a timing cover oil seal. I have been told that it might be the same as an MGB. I don.t have the original kit seal. The needed seal measures 2-1/2" OD X 1-1/2 ID. Anyone know the measurements of an MG seal? Dare to cross over to the dark side and help out a TR owner.

Just went thru all the partial gasket sets here and not ONE has the seal. Can't help.

:apologetic:

Are the ID and OD measurements exact @ 2-1/2 & 1-1/2"? What is the thickness? I ask because the business I'm in stocks a boatload of seals... Another question, is it a single lip or double lip seal? I would imagine it would be a double (which narrows out a lot of our stock, but by no means all...) and would be glad to send one to you if we have it.

The ID and OD are exact at 1-1/2 & 2-1/2". I have tried SKF #15141 which has one lip (CRW1) and measures .313 wide. The seal does not clear the front end of the kit's spacer sleeve; it has to be a good .5625 wide to clear the front edge. Larger widths appear to be no longer available. I am considering changing over to the Moss kit which has a longer sleeve sized to fit a stock TR3 oil seal.

I just ordered a new kit from Moss.

Probably the best choice, though it's always hard to have to move on to another solution. Hope it works our for you!
