Timing chain and sprockets on TR250

After a 10 year undertaking I have nearly completed a frame up restoration of a 1968 TR 250. The car is not intended to be concours rather a fun car so the engine has been modified a bit 0.030 off the bottom of the head to raise compression along with porting and polishing along with a fairly aggressice cam and a set of Webbers. I am buttoning up the front end of the engine and I am looking at the single row timing chain and sprockets.
I know that the TR6 went to a double row sprockets and chain. So I am looking for advice on how to handle this last item.
1. Was the move to the double chain and sprockets a real upgrade to improve the robustness of the engine? I did modify the valve train to double springs and titanium keepers. Do I need to upgrade to the double chain and sprockets?
2. I have looked at numerous catalogues and shop manuals and have determined that the cam in the TR 250 and TR6 are basically identical so this end should be no problem. but what about the crank end will the couble sprocket fit and line up with the double sprocket on the cam?
3. What about the Timing cover, will the stock cover fit?

Aly and all help and guidance would be most appreciated!
