I just finished my body cart for Old Baldy. I made it out of 4x4 timber, some 2x4s, metal angle, and construction brackets. I hope to send him to the sand blaster's in a week or so. I'll get to use the cart then.


The narrower uprights go under the front frame rails, just aft of the firewall. The other ones go under the front leaf spring mount brackets. I'll try to position them so they don't block the mounting holes. That way I can mount the front and rear suspension without taking the body off the cart.



Check out Baldy's current state of deconstruction. I still need to trash out the wiring (new harness from Advance Auto Wire on the way) and hydraulic lines (plan to buy all new replacements).



Plenty more disassembly waiting, once the body goes off to get sandblasted.

Both Igor and Baldy started life as 1974 MGB GTs. If you take a closer look at Old Baldy's picture you'll see that the windshield <span style="font-style: italic">I mean "windscreen"</span> frame is taller than a roadster's and welded to the body, not removable.



Some DPO cut Baldy's roof off. Igor's roof has too much rust (just like the rest of him) to act as a donor for a transplant. Luckily, a local club member had parted out a GT a while ago, and saved the roof.



BTW, Da Roof comes back from sandblasting today. I can start preping it for installation, now that I can see all the welds, some of which I need to drill out. I'm going to keep baldy's original windshield frame, so I need to remove the one from the donor roof.
