My father was in the Dutch army during the last tidal surge event in the 50's that killed more than 2000. It was devastating to a country still recovering from WWII. The defenses today are better, but this could cause massive flooding in the UK and NL. I'll be emailing my relatives tonight to see how they are fairing, many live in the flooded areas where you can still see signs of the flooding more than 50 years later.

I surveyed part of the Thames Estuary SW of Southend - I can see where it could be a big problem. Hopefully it won't turn into anything significant!
