Ooops, he has no clutch nor tranny at this point. Actually, if he were to push the crank back (prying with a stick of wood or something), can't he pry it forward with same? I say the thickness of a thin fingernail is about right. Close enough for government work.

I remember when I replaced my thrust washers. I was freaking out that I had all this wear so I ordered all the oversizes available (overkill?) and come to find that the only ones I could fit were stock sized. The eyes can deceive but the nose knows.

While on thrust washers - you can upgrade your thrust washers using ones custom made by Scott Helms:

These are wider (greater contact surface) and are made from an alloy that Scott claims does not wear as quickly as the standard white metal plated units.

I used these - seem fine so far.

The clutch thingie is "dealable". The thrust washer check can be done with the gearbox in or out, as can the replacement of same. If it ran before the clutch incident you are likely to be enjoying a top-down cruise in short order.

"Trust in Dave" needs to be your current mantra.

Dale... I had to blow about 18 inches of snow from my drive today. That was after the plow finaly came through. Haven't been able to get out since friday. Gotta love the bikini babes and warm sand.
