Anyone run the Denis Welch ball bearing type throw-out bearing instead of the carbon graphite original type ? Thanks

I replaced my original with another carbon graphite type with a known 100,000 miles. The original still looked good. If you are not racing, stick with the original, or go with whatever you want.

Nope but I made my own using the casting for the carbon insert. Man the clutch feels like glass--Keoke--- :driving:

Hi All,

Today, while backing out for a quick test spin, a God-awful noise was emitted from my transmission when my foot was partially pressing on the clutch pedal. The noise subsided, for the most part, once I inserted the clutch fully. Although I have experienced this noise a hand full of time in the past 2 years, it usually disappears with no side affects.

My thought is a misaligned throughout bearing or a spinning pilot, however, it will have to get far worse before I address this issue.

Keoke, since I think I will have time, I would appreciate knowing more about how you designed and constructed your throughout bearing and if anyone has experimented with a bearing-based pilot.

Good luck,
Ray (64BJ8P1)

I run the DW unit (for about a year and half)
after set up(bit of hassle to get exact)
i like it
my clutch engages about 3 inches in instead of six, (real easy to get use to)
now the input shaft did carve away some of the soft metal around the bearing but it is made of aluminum and designed to find its center
