Throttle Disk Changeover

I've asked this before, quite a while ago, but the old brain didn't retain the answer. Will a solid disk from a HS-4 fit and replace the ones in the HIF-4 carbs? Is the bore in both carbs the same? PJ

Yes, some of the HIF4s have a flush enrichment tube at the throttle disc, and those carbs will take the early HS4 solid butterfly without any mods, then some of the HIF4s have protruding tubes there, those tubes can be carefully ported flush with the carb body and the solid butterfly used, those carbs with the protruding tube had slot in the bottom of the original poppet valve butterfly, and some have notched the solid butterfly to do the same thing, but I would rather opt to flush the tube, you'll get a much better idling car that way.

Hope ths helps

Thanks very much Hap. I believe it was you who gave me that information some time ago. I've gotten to the point where I have to write every thing down, because if a month goes by, it's lost in the old brain.
The wife and I moved to the North Eastern section of Oklahoma since the last time I saw you at the track some time ago, moved close to our son. Bought an old horse farm. Have a nice big shop to work on the cars. PJ
