Those brown birds

There are a couple birds building a nest in the bush outside my front door. They get quite chirpy when my cat Lysa comes out to sun herself. I was able to grab the 180 in time to get a couple shots off. In my hurry, I forgot to set my F stop which was 2.8. This is about 8', full frame, manual focus. I was a little off on the focus but the DOF was about 1.3 inches.DSC_7774_01.jpg

Focusing on birds in trees with lots of branches can be a challenge.

For no time to get off the shot, it looks great. I really like the subtlety of the color difference t'wixt bird and branches.

Ironically that bush is dead. Everything else is green, flowers are blooming on the bush their nest is in.

Same here. What see are all "Florida birds" by my reckoning.

Pelicans the exception.

So the two birds are still around. I bought a bag of wild finch seed that they like. They have grown accustomed to me and somewhat to Lysa. I took this shot with my phone. Zoomed in, no crop.

What's Lysa's reaction to the birds?

She talks to them in the usual cat manner. In the last couple weeks, she has only stalked them one time that I've seen and I warned her not to. I think she realizes she's too fat to catch them. The birds will land within 4 feet of her.

Even if she hasn't, it sounds like the birds have.
