National Geo did a nice monthly issue on China.
Many beautiful photos and interesting text.
Me and the Mrs spent 2 fantastic weeks touring China.
Nice folks, huge country with terrible air pollution.

The Geo issue stated the Chinese workers who manufacture
Thomas the Tank Engine for kids must work six months
to pay for one Thomas. I googled Thomas at $8.91

My goodness, that's low wages.

Also, 9% of all China made products shipped to the USA
are purchased by Wal*Mart.

Just interesting data, I hope this thread does not turn sour.

Wall Mart is the single biggest importer of Chinese goods in America. IIRC, something like 40% of all our Chinese imports go to them. There's a reason I've never stepped foot into a Wall Mart.

Nope- Geo says 9% of all China made products shipped
to the USA end up on Wal*Mart shelves.

Geo says China is investing $52 billion to build chemical
manufacturing plants along a 500 mile stretch of river.

I've participated in a $1 billion facility locally.
It is enormous. I cannot image 52 of them

Guess my memory fails me! Even at 9%, that's a huge portion of our money going to people I don't want it to go to. I still won't shop at Wall Mart!
