Well a few months ago I posted about a "TR2-3 " treasure hunt that ended up as a Spitfire ,

Well this time the Treasure hunt found a real 1960 TR2-3,

Its rust free , no motor or trans , the lights have gone missing , but otherwise seens pretty complete.

The top frame , windshield and frame , side curtains are there , dash is complete ,
front bumper and grill are there but a little beat up,.

cheap paint job, maybe spray cans even !

here are some pics

anyway I think I will get it , and put it up for sale to fund some of my other projects ,

Also might have a Morris Minor convertible coming over the weekend !

and the hunt goes on.....

It looks like a pretty solid project. I'm sure someone has an extra 2.0 or 2.2 to throw in there and make her a runner.

If it was a little more dull green we could use it as an army staff car in some cheesy movie /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

PS....its so solid it would be an easy fix....for someone else !

Hmmm... maybe the engine/OD tranny from my rusty TR4 would fit in that...

Cool find. Kin I have the switches and cockpit trim? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Really I hope you get to have some fun with it.
Just for info.
TR2s were built from late '53-'55. then they went to the small mouth 3 until mid'57 then the went to the wide mouth (whats in your pic) or TR3A and B until '62.

thanks so its a TR3.....

I really have no interest in fixing it, I might wash it and put the windshield frame back on it , and thats about it.

Just too many other cars to do,

I would think a modern 5 speed hooked up to a Triumph engine would make it a nice driver.....

[/ QUOTE ]Right, probably a late 1959-build TR3A. I can't quite make out the commission number, but it all looks like a post-60000 car. And it's got that "STC-60" plate on it, so that pretty much verifies that it was "retitled" as a 1960 model, presumably by whichever distributor received the car from the factory.

I love the 5 speed set-up,
now does anyone make Triumph logo valve covers to put on the Toyota engine /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

ohh the vin number starts with a 6 so that seems to make it a TR3a from what you told me

thanks

Post 6000 car Raised Hinge (looks like TS 68***) maybe a 1960

So that's what that means.... I love the information that's just tossed out there to a greatful owner, thanks Andy!. I've got a '59 that's registered as a '60, bought on December 26, 1959. Now I know!
