Was 28° here at our house in Kentucky this morning...I'm NOT ready for any winter weather !!! GRRR
 
So ... does anyone know the story of the woolly bear caterpillar? Seems there's some truth to that.

No, being an American citizen I can't hold an official paying job in Belize. I help out a dive school / snorkel tours up in Ambergris Caye when they need crew. I get to hang out on the dive cats all day, watch the fun, lead tourists to touristy locations on the reefs and become useful if the poo hits the propeller. The owners/my good friends pay me back in fish and beer, vegetables and fruit. I think I have a good deal.
 
Skim of ice on the dog dish this morning. Top on the TR, down since March, went up a couple days ago. And I've started wearing long pants!

My grandfather, a farmer all his adult life, would always read the woolly bears coat. Remembering as a kid, he would predict how cold the winter was going to be and how long it would last, funny thing is, he was right most of the time. There was also something he saw in how the trees reacted, don't know about that one. Granddad always grew organic crops, never used chemicals and never went hunting to kill an animal. He farmed 400 acres and used mules to cultivate his crops. He was a book of knowledge. Us kids thought he was the greatest! I just wish I knew half today what he knew back then. PJ
