Yes and no. I think it is the best looking Jaguar in a very long time, but why can't they design a new Jaguar without stealing design cues from the past? I know the best designs from Jaguar have always had something that made them uniquely Jaguar, kind of a DNA of sorts. This design screams E-Type from the front to the back, but then they scoop out the sides like a 50's Corvette. I would understand if it had some functionality, but I'm guessing that's not the case. The other thing is it's a coupe. Why is that a problem? In a year or two, they will release a convertible and that will always depreciate the coupe, even though it is a better design. If you look at the history of Jaguar, you'll see how even though every coupe they design is better looking than it's open top counterpart, which they introduce after a few years, the convertible demands a higher price. Take my XJS as an example. The coupe, to my eye is the better design than the convertible, It's faster aerodynamically and rarer by a ratio of 20:1, but the demand for convertibles makes it worthless as far as resale value. Not that I'm interested in selling it, but it's now become a waste of money to restore it. When it was new, in 1994 it sold for nearly $80,000, and now a perfect one can barely sell for $10K. So if you look ahead 20 years, what will that half a million dollar car be worth? End of rant.
Why have a car, so beautiful be sooo expensive. I would say a target market would be the mid life crisis and they make the bloody thing where 99% of the world can't even come close. Surely more money could be made flogging 10,000 units instead of 500. My rant, sorry. I still want one!!!!
