Bugeye priceing has really moved upward in the last couple of years. Boy if you got one keep it.

Low Retail Average Retail Value High Retail

$5,625 $15,725 $23,825

Low Retail Value
This vehicle would be in mechanically functional condition, needing only minor reconditioning. The exterior paint, trim, and interior would show normal wear, needing only minor reconditioning. May also be a deteriorated restoration or a very poor amateur restoration. Most usable "as-is".

Average Retail Value
This vehicle would be in good condition overall. It could be an older restoration or a well-maintained original vehicle. Completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. A "20-footer".

High Retail Value
This vehicle would be in excellent condition overall. It could be a completely restored or an extremely well maintained original vehicle showing very minimal wear. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are not in need of reconditioning. The interior would be in excellent condition. Note: This value does not represent a "100 Point" or "# 1" vehicle *.

* "100 Point" or "# 1" vehicle is not driven. It would generally be in a museum or transported in an enclosed trailer to concourse judging and car shows. This type of car would be stored in a climate-regulated facility.

KBB?

Gesh, not sure but something like blue bood for classics or such.

Here are the values from the Old Car Price Guide August 2007 for bugeyes, I put my own little descriptions because it would be too much to list their descriptions which take up a whole page

1=18000 (concours)
2=12600 (show proven winner)
3=8100 (20 footer, cruise in trophy winner)
4=3600 (driveable, from 20 feet away you can see it needs help)
5=2160 (not operable but everything is there, may run)
6=720 (parts only /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif )

These are for 1958 to 1961 then they drop a little

Small difference between the two lists. intresting.

Always difficult to value classics, at the end of the day they are only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Over here you could drop ÂŁ12k on a mint Bugeye, but they aren't really jumping up in value just yet. The desirables have skyrocketed over the last couple years (Merc 300 SL, Ferrari Daytona, Aston DB5 etc), and normally when these become too expensive for the majority, they start looking for alternatives, so it drags the rest of the market up. If I suddenly find my '66 is worth ÂŁ5k in current condition, I may be tempted to part with it...
