This is beyond belief...but then again, maybe not

So I'm out driving my 2001 PT Cruiser and the fog lights won't go OFF when I shut of the car and all the light switches. I resort to pulling the relay and leave it at that until I have time to mess with it all. I tested the relay, found it to work fine. So after looking at the wiring diagrams in the manual, I figure it has to be a faulty "multifunction switch", the big saddle assy over the steering column that contains the turn signal, flasher, wiper and headlamp switches. I dismantle the steering column shrouds, disconnect the wiring, and pull out the multifunction switch. Upon disassembly I discover a burned sliding contact that is so messed up and melted all around that the whole part needs to be replaced. But as I am inspecting this big thing, I notice an old familiar imprint. Right next to the Chrysler pentastar is the name: LUCAS.
I am not kidding!!!!!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Yep! TRW bought Lucas in the recent past.

probably the only component that would ever go bad on a pt. cruiser. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif
