CHESTERTOWN — A man restoring a 1959 Austin-Healey car discovered two hand grenades and an old submarine munition in the classic car, State Police said Friday.
Authorities were called after the Warren County man noticed the World War II era explosives inside the heater box while he worked on the mini's engine.
The grenades were empty shells, but the sub ordnance was treated as a live explosive, troopers said.

The items were removed from the vehicle to be destroyed, according to State Police.
Troopers said the incident occurred in Chestertown but did not provide an address or say when the discovery was made.

Whoa! What an archeological surprise!

Well that beats the "Atoms for Peace" key chain and "Save water, shower with a friend" dashboard sticker in my first Bug Eye!

I'm saying the previous owner didn't put them there but had enemies!

Kurt.
