I think this corner has been shown before. But I think these might be different cars.
Can anyone spot what some of the problems are? YIKES

Did anybody notice at the 35sec mark,. The BMW with the body hanging out?

That was an assault on my eyes.

A lot of rear engine cars exibiting that "dreaded trailing throttle oversteer..." Nice!!

No seatbelt, shoulder harnesses, helmets, roll bars, real glass left in the vehicles......did you see the veewee convertible with a backseat full of passengers?

Looks like Beetles didn't get along with that corner very well. It certainly looked like a few of those cars were repeat offenders.
My heart stopped when that Beetle convert full of people started wagging!
I just have 2 words. SEAT BELTS! Better yet 5 point harnesses!
did you see the can of something explode when it fell out of the blue VW towards the end of the video. $20 says it was a can/ bottle of beer.

I don't know which is worse - the accidents or the clothing!!

I spent a week there in '69 prepping our car for a support race before the German Gran Prix. Laps on the track were one Mark per lap, $0.25 exchange rate at the time. Rental car heaven.

At several select locations, there were 'strippers' who, when a car wrecked, could make off with the re-sellable parts in record time.

And....there were fatalities every day. When I was there, five deaths in the three days that the track was open before the race. Nobody seemed to get very excited about it. In the US, the track wouldn't have lasted three days before being pad locked.

Reminded me of th' Cross-Bronx Expressway.

Anyone could get time on th' 'ring... pony up th' fare and take your shot.

All th' boy racers weed themselves out kinda quick. Restraints were around, just not regarded as anything worth spending money on. Gene pool stuff, IMO.

Doc- You know the CBE? I grew up in the Bronx until I was eleven. I travel that road often to visit family on Long Island.
We need to race from the GW Bridge to the Throgs Neck... zoom, zoom :smirk:

I've drived through New Yawk three time....once New London to Charleston, then later, back north, then 6 weeks later, back down, and I swore never again.
First indication was the cars at the side of the tollway (expressway.....anything but free) with wheels gone, bumpers gone, battery, radio, seats gone.....

But one of those bridges (I-95, 1971-ish) southbound.....nighttime, raining.....roads and pavement were so freaking bad you wondered if you hit a pothole it went through the bridge deck.......anyway, on the bridge approach, suddenly I catch lights off to my left, and realize cars are coming down some kind of steep on-ramp onto the bridge....except there was this HUGE lip, and these cars would literally dive off the edge of the ramp onto the bridge proper, almost into my driver's door.
