Thinking of selling our C

As much as I adore our C tourer, I've got my eye on an inexpensive XK-120 roadster, and I'm out of space in the garage. Everything else in the garage has some other emotional attachment to it, but alas, the C does not (other than the fact that I like it).

Not sure what to do at this point. :eeek:

Best advice I ever saw on this was from a Peter Egan column some years back. To paraphrase:

"If the car was gone tomorrow and you got full replacement value for it, would you buy it again? If the answer is no, then it's time to sell."

Sounds like the answer for you would be no, you wouldn't repurchase it. Time to move it on so you can try something else. None of us are like Jay Leno and have resources and space to keep every car we buy. So we become serial collectors. Lots of cars to try, only so much time/space/money.

Besides, an XK-120 roadster is one of my favorite cars. You should have one.

An "inexpensive XK-120"?? Famous last words methinks! LoL

To make room for the 120, won't you need to sell at least TWO of your LBCs? 120's aren't exactly small....

When you DO get the Jag - we want PICTURES!!!

The good news is I know what I'm getting used to. The first British car I ever worked on was my father's 1952 120 coupe -- he was doing a frame-off concours resto of the car when I was in high school, and I hardly left his side the entire time. Great machines, but in all honesty, fairly simple and straightforward, and the roadsters even more so. I will certainly post pics if and when we make the plunge!

Of course, that will leave me without an MG...

For now...

LOL isn't that the truth.

Too true. <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="text-decoration: underline">We're a crazy lot</span></span>!

As the great prophet says:

With these changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes
Nothing remains quite the same
With all of my running and all of my cunning
If I couldn't laugh I just would go insane
If we couldn't laugh we just would go insane
<span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="text-decoration: underline">If we weren't all crazy we would go insane </span></span>
