Thinking of rebuilding my front suspension

My front suspension was rebuilt by me about 8 years ago, used all OE rubber bushes. No complaints, just think it is time to take a hard look at that front end again. (I'm bored) I welded in the TRF front stiffening plates and my shocks (Koni) and springs (competition) are all good. Just have some squeeks and rattles I don't like. I will take everything down and refinish the metal. Question: go back with rubber or try a new space-age bush. The rear is GoodParts Nyletron. I kinda am leaning towards stiffer bushes. The rack is newly rebuilt. Also, what about the changing the spindle to the heavy-duty available at TRF?

Bill-

I think those spindles from Uncle Jack are slick, but unless you've actually experienced knockback on your brakes from spindle flex I'm not sure you'd notice the difference. Changing out those bushings to something stiffer will be noticeable though.

With Koni's and all that stiffer spring action, you really ~should~ use a stiffer set of bushings than what came standard. You will notice a handling difference. "Quicker" or "sharper" response would be one description. It'll ride a bit more harshly but with all you've done to this point I suspect ya won't object to that.

The beefy stub axles would be "gravy". Since you'll be close to 'em anyway, why not?

I have the HD spindles, but went with the stock suspension package. Nice setup with the Timken bearings and all.

Bill,

I haven't tried the HD spindles.. Interesting upgrade, but since I don't race the thing I'm not sure how much benefit I would get.

I do recommend Nylatron over poly. My TR6 is "new car" tight and I haven't noticed anymore NVH than usual (I'm also running solid steering mounts and ploy diff mounts). Being that you like to drive a little aggresively, I figure you would like the instant response that you get from Nylatron.

Take care,
-s
