the author is aware of 21 throughout the USA - One (Rochester) ran until the early 2000's. Anyone know of these or even ride on one?

Yep - when I was a kid, in Fort Worth TX back in the 1950s and 60s, there was a toy department monorail in the (now closed) Leonard's Department Store. It's shown around 6:00 in JP's video. I think at Christmas, the entire department (in the basement) was converted into a Santa's Toy Shop. Beginning in 1963 you could park away from the downtown area, and reach the store using the subway train run by Leonard's. Probably the only privately-owned and operated subway in the world.

Thanks Tom and the addition of the subway bit is very cool!
