They couldn't do better than....?

I have found enough time to attend to the little car. After we signed up on-line, We had a representative from FEMA show up quite proptly .We showed him the condition of the foundation block wall, and the recommendations from two contractors, to repair/rebuild at least two walls, with lots of excavating etc, we were suprised to find that (just a week) later the money had been deposited into our checking account. $562.88. I'm thinking that if the repairs don't eat all of that, we can really jazz up the Triumph.....huh? It will pay for the storage unit that we emptied the basement into till spring.

JSF - sorry you went through all that. We had major wind and flood damage here in CT also.

I'm interested in the $562.88 amount you got from FEMA. How'd they come up with that? Seems if you have foundation wall problems, it would cost a *lot* more than $562.88 to repair.

We're eligible in CT for FEMA assistance too. I might apply (cellar flooded, furnace and appliances under water). But if the settlement is so little compared to the damage, I'm wondering why bother.

Thanks.
Tom

One of my brothers had pretty severe flooding in his basement. Ruined his furnace, water heater plus other stuff.

He got $3000 from FEMA. It probably won't cover everything, but it was very helpful. They were prompt too.

The guy who came to look at the damage was honest enough to say he just documents the damage, with pictures and measurements. He said someone else makes the determination on how much to award. We are grateful for the $$ to pay for the storage until I get the house supported on a pressure treated 2x6 wall run around the inside of the block walls(carpentry/house building was what I've done most of my life). He only gives us what we can handle.
