BLONDE
I had already made plans to go up to Fresno
previously to pick up a 1975 MGB, then this
occured!

Can talk about it now, yesterday, early in the morning my BLONDE daughter up at Cal State Fresno call's me up in absolute tears, sobbing "daaaaddyyyy, don't be angry, but sob sob, MY CAR GOT STOLEN!!! SOB SOB" I say to her, call the cops! she say's "huh sob sob, its not where I left it! sob sob sniffle. I say CALL THE COPS, make a report! She says okay, then through the tears she says " till I get another car, can you bring me up a MGB?" sob sniffle sob. I reply "Look, your car just got stolen, I am not about to just hand over a classic car to you till this gets resolved, there's the bus"
So a few hours go by, she calls me a couple times more, wondering if she has full coverage ins. I tell her, the car wasn't worth much so your out the money.
THEN I get the phone call, oh silly me, "I'm sorry daddy, but the cop helped be backtrack, and I forgot that I left my car over at the student parking lot for the night, when you get here, can we go to dinner?"
There's blonde,
then there's BLONDE!

I have had mornings like that.....

As the stories go my grandfather had days like that. He would drive to work (he was a piano tuner and church organist), forget that he drove that day, walk out the other door, and walk home -- then wonder where the car was. Apparently drove my grandmother nuts.

Maybe a lesson learned for your daughter, then again, there's blonde and there's blonde...

I must confess I had a "blonde" moment in college too. Finals week, drove to school, took three finals. Came out of the third final, walked to the parking lot, could NOT find my BRIGHT yellow 76 Cherokee Chief with tall tires. Realizing my brain was pudding, I walked over to my gf apartment and waited until the parking lot cleared out. Happens to the best of us.

However, no law enforcement personnel were involved!

I did this too. Took the girlfriend at the time to the mall in Greensburg and parked outside JC Penny's. I looked at the landscaping along the building and made a mental note as to the location of my car in relation to a group of shrubs. Two hours later I walked out, glanced at the shrubs and walked to the exact location of my car. Much to my suprise it was gone! Now, my car is a Chevy Impala POLICE CAR complete with a push bar, police wheels, antennas, and a dash cam. It just doesn't have any red and blue lights. Looking at the parking spot that I had backed into earlier I knew that the blue Taurus shouldn't me there. Got mall security involved and looking while I wandered aimlessly pressing the panic button on the remote. Turns out BOTH sides of JC penny's had the EXACT same shrubs... That was embarrassing...

1997, Ithaca N.Y. My now-wife was doing an internship at Cornell and had the fun of trying to find a parking spot in Collegetown every day she had to be at the building where she was interning. She calls me one day in tears, "Someone stole my car!" I reply, "I doubt that. no one would steal your car" (87 Tempo that should have gone to the u-pull it yard before she had it)
Fortunately I was working across town, so I drove over there to help her look for it. We drove up and down several side streets with no sightings. She says, "I swear I parked it right there." I say, "Right there in front of that fire hydrant?"
A call to the local police impound lot located the car. $150 bucks later she was on her way back to her dorm at Wells.

This thread made me recall the time my family was travelling on vacation - ie all our stuff, pets, etc in the car - and we stopped at an oasis for lunch. When we were done, my Dad said he'd go get the car and meet us at the door. 20 minutes later, Dad comes back..."Honey I lost the car..." You guessed it, he went left out of the restaurant instead of right.... Car was right where we left it.

$150, ...that's dirt cheap
Cost you 4-6 bills easy here

Then there are the times I've driven my wife's car to the store. Go in, do my shopping and come out and I can't find my car. Sometimes it takes a while to realize I didn't drive MY car.

Great stories, but coming back to Dave's post, you are welcome to join my support group - Adult survivors of blonde daughters.

I left classes at college found my burgundy 65 Dodge Dart opened the door, got in, started the engine, and looked around wondering who had cleaned my car. Mine was a few rows away. Both cars were keyed alike. Who would have thought?

Luckily, we have no such issue... just some CATS.

Surviving those is mebbe less commitment but just as hurtful.

A friend taught at the local college - when students lost keys, before calling CAA would get the rest of the students to try their keys (same make) he said it worked more often than you would think.
