There was a glimmer of hope....

I was searching for BGT parts and had come across Proper MG, and going through the catalog, I was google-eyed over the low low prices they had in their master parts catalog.

Then I read how that catalog was from June 04. Now I am sad. :-( Stupid weak dollar! Haha

Oh well. The mythical search for cheap parts continues /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Thank you for the advice. I will heed it well.

PS Did Randi inform you of the classic car show in Abbeville? Since you are from LA I figured I'd fill you in on it.

The details are in the Local Events forum under Carousel of Arts.

PS - Any personal recommendations on parts suppliers outside of Moss/VB?

Hiya,

I've had great luck with Proper, and their Chrome is of much better qualty than some of the other suppliers.

Bit-Tek seems to be pretty good price wise. They also seem to have a fairly good selection of after market performance parts.

I used in the past Brittek ( www.brittek.com ) , Moss ( mossmotors.com) and Victoria British ( victoriabritish.com ).

Moss is the best place I have ordered from price wise and quality.

Brittek was also very good but still Moss is a reference when you look at the on-line catalogue.

Victoria British I will simply not use anymore. They have parts that are not manucfactured with the proper tolerances. For an example I ordered leaf springs for may 73. After installing them the back of my car was 3 inches higher and to have some confort I had to put 200LB of sand in the trunk.

Ordered a new set from Brittek and the problem was solved. The damping for the springs at Victoria was simply all wrong (totally useless).

Thanks my take on this..

This point is very true indeed. Moss has the best "online" catalogue of parts I've seen to date. However, like their competitors they do have items available in their catalogues that cannot be found in their online catalogue. So far, I've only purchased from Moss and The B-Hive both of which I've been satisfied with the parts recieved. I just find that Moss tends to be more expensive than their competitors in most cases, but I still use them in my shopping comparisons because I'd be doing myself a dis-service if I didn't. I also include eBay in my parts searches mainly for parts that don't necesarily have to be "new" in order to achieve what I want.

Moss' catalog is indeed impressive. It made me realize i could buy ANYTHING for my B.

Moss has an easier to navigate online catalog as well, even though not all the stuff from the paper rag is on the website. But still pretty good.

And to put cherries on top, I found out mom has a dealer account with both VB and Moss through dad's repair shop. :-D

I did check all of the vendors posted though, and I do believe I will end up doing business with them all by the time I'm finished. I appreciate everyones input on this, thank you all so much
