Wedge There goes another TR8

I will be delivering a very low mileage TR8 to a shipping port in NJ tomorrow. It is joing at least three others at that port alone destined for Australia. There is a gentleman from Australia buying every TR8 he can find and shipping them abroad. It would seem that I am not the only one who thinks TR8s are tremendously undervalued around here. If you were thinking about getting one, you better act fast.

Glad I've got mine!

I just got back home from delivering the car. There was suppose to be seven TR8's leaving from this one port alone. I saw four. The building was full of classic muscle cars, and late model wrecked luxury cars. It was very sad to witness so many collectables leaving our shores. It must have something to do with the weakness of the dollar.

This happened in the late '80's to as many Euro two seater drop-tops as the scavengers could locate.

I even restored and prepped an MG TF for import to Japan. History repeating itself.

Before we go off on a "nefarious" tangent, let's remember that most of the production came over here to begin with, so it's natural that folks who want them will source them where they are to be found.

Supply and demand...

Still glad I've got mine!

I ain't callin' it nefarious, Bro. Just th' way of things.

You're just paranoid, Todd. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Yea maybe. But they only made 2815 TR8's and I think 7 of them were just taken out of circulation. I happen to really like the coupes. Only 400 or so were made, and I've totaled two of them on the race track. I just saw one of the nicest coupes I've ever seen heading off into the sunset.

Someone will enjoy it, care for it and keep it running.

If you find me a nice convertible, I may want to help keep it here. Sorry, I want the top down, I'm not a coupe guy. Although Woody's is one that gets my interest every time that I run in to him.

That car is a bit out of my league though and it's probably better for me that it is.
