TR4/4A The Yellow Fan on a TR4

Does the yellow plastic 8 blade fan make tuning and working on the engine more difficult--like in turning the engine over?

Is the benefit to the cooling material enough to bother with?

I don't think it makes it any more difficult to work on the engine - but if you are used to putting a socket on the dog bolt to turn the engine then yes that is more difficult, if not impossible with the yellow fan.

For me, I have absolutely no regrets to switching to the yellow fan. My metal fan was out of balance, wobbled, and was noisy at idle. I also saw improvement in engine temp after switching the fan out which was a big help in the Texas summers.

Timely exchange guys (for me anyway) since I was about to do the same thing with the newly rebuild TR4A engine. Thanks for info!

Get the yellow tr7 fan with 13 blades, fits better and pulls more air,and you dont have to reverse it to put it on.

I always push on the top of a front wheel (gearbox in 4th) to move the engine on the TR4 -- grabbing the fan can be tough on the knuckles.

Local owner Craig S (red TR4) has the yellow fan and is usually at our Tuesday coffee session (arrives about 9:00 - Grant & Swan) if you get a chance to catch him for an opinion on it's effectiveness. I would say that the mere fact that he has one is a pretty good recommendation.
