The wife told me to go buy a new mailbox......

OK, this is not a post about mailbox baseball. This is what happens when I am bored....and the wife tells me we need a new mailbox.

My 8 year old took all the pics....I was trying to freehand the flames. Put our street# and our name on it. Laid the base first, then masked the flames....a coat of heavy candy apple red, then some airbrushing in the flames...then a coat of light candy apple.

:savewave: Very nice! Is it insured? Unfortunately, we have those new fangled cluster boxes. Ya think the postal authorities would take umbridge at our flaming them??? Oh and is your 8 year old open to photo contracting services? He did a good job!

All that work would last two minutes here... I have some REALLY idiotic bike riding adolescents around who think targeting mailboxes with ball bats is grand sport. :madder:

After #2 went for a chop I got a vinyl one, mounted it to a set of "breakaway" mounts. It's been hit a couple times since but given up on, as it gets put back up in no time. No "fun" I guess.

...had considered concrete and rebar but decided THAT was too much work, too. But it woulda rung their bell, methinks.

Excellent work. Reminds me a friend's PT Cruiser he painted before he gave up custom painting. He also painted a number of my HO slot cars.

He does his HO cars with the same Sikkens Auto finishes he used on full size cars, and I have never had one of his paint jobs chip in crashes on the slot car track.

Nice work!

Be VERY nice to your mailman or they will make you regret it. Bribes and cookies work well.

But you'll have to reach a little deeper in the pockets!

Doc, Have the same problem here. Found the solution. I located a mailbox that is a little bit bigger, not to give away the outcome to the kids. It is made of a heavier gauge steel and I heard someone give it a rap one night and I bet their hands are still ringing!

LOL! She's insured...for a whopping $11!

I've done about a handful of cars. Most recent car I painted last year....

Started out as this....

Ended up looking like this....

Here's the full buildup.

I am for some reason a glutton to pain....and I dig in deeper than needed a lot of times. Where most people would stop and say heck NO!!! I cuss a bit, and do it. I really enjoy the finished product...that really motivates me.

Let see. You are 90 miles away. You have a B/E at about the same stag as mine and you can paint cars. Hint hint.

Mail Box eh? Yours looks so good I think I may have to try, and try really hard, to convince my wife to let me paint my mailbox like my BBQ grill...

Dutch Hollow Farms
Can my tractor fit in your back yard? (Yes that is my small tractor). However, I'm probably more qualified to be your veterinarian.
