The Whitephrog's original engine....

....is off to East Tennessee Race Prep for "refreshing'" and a few upgrades. The engine has been out of the car since 1974. It was last "refreshed" in 1972 by Howard's Machine Shop in Huntsville Alabama. At the time Howard's was building NASCAR engines. Doing a few "Special Tuning" things to the engine. It will replace the 1275cc engine currently in the car. I have agreed to sell the Whitephrog to a long time friend and fellow BCF member who has been Bugeyeless for the past several years. She is about to have a pretty interesting and exotic life.

Received a phone call from Gary Johnson at East Tennessee Race Prep this afternoon. He has the engine torn down. He said it looked to him as if the engine had about 30 minutes on it since the last rebuild in the early 1970s.

He going to do a couple of Special Tuning things then wrap it back up , test it on his bench machine, paint it and send it back home. It will be sorta neat for the engine, transmission and chassis to reunited after 41 years.

Always nice to get a piece of good news.

I visited Gary Johnson at East Tennessee Race Prep this morning. He had just returned from a weekend at Watkins Glen. One of his cars won the other, a Lotus 25 I believe, "broke". Gary says that the Whitephrog's original engine has never had the first mile placed on it since Howard's Machine Shop is Huntsville, Alabama rebuilt it in about 1973. He said it was an excellent rebuilt with lots of performance upgrades. The only issue he has had to correct was a bit of surface rust on the cylinder walls. She has a fresh coat of correct Morris Green paint and looks very handsome. He is going to bench test it within the next few week between races, then back home to be reinstalled in the Phrog after at least 41 years.

BTW Gary has a very very nice BE project car for sale. Actually not even much of a project....ready to put back together. Bright red with black interior. ETRP rebuilt engine and transmission. New parts galore
