The way we used to get information!

my wife and I were watching a documentary about a large group of US soldiers, being trained early in the war against Germany--they were trained in
interrogation methods to get information which would be helpful to our military from captured German soldiers. They were vary good!
The German soldiers didn't realize how important their "friendly" conversations were. "We're both in this stupid war--we just want to go home and see
our family--have another beer" My wife wanted to find more about these soldiers--So I said let's do it this way-----Let us go back to about
1960 or so --an uncle, war veteran mentioned this group of soldiers trained in interrogation methods--I'll look up the telephone number of the
local library to see if they are open--then drive 3 or 4 miles--find a place to park--go to the card catalogs--write down the book numbers-wonder
through the stacks--find the book(s) on my list--some could be checked out--some couldn't--sit down any read one of them--meanwhile, I'm getting
hungry--this would take all afternoon!--Now to the present--My wife took her "Smartphone" and asked "alexa" (or whoever was on duty that day)
about the subject in mind--and up popped more information than she could ever read through! For good or bad--that's modern tech!!

Many of these soldiers were Jewish--many were first or second generation immigrants from Germany--many had families still in
Germany--they knew what was happening in Germany in the late '30's. Some were not US citizens at the time--but their skills
were needed! The Jewish soldiers know what had probably happend (sp)-or will happen to their families in Germany.
Some of the higher-ups didn't believe this was a very useful allocations of resources--But members of our own Army
Intelligence thought it was a good idea--worth developing -- and pushed it through!

It wasn't only Jewish people who knew what was happening in Germany. Lots on non-Jews knew as well. Sadly the genocide was not limited to only Jews. Lots of Gypsies, Jehovah's Witnesses, homosexuals, blacks, the physically and mentally disabled were also targeted.

and communists, and socialists, and "enemies of the State'.

"
First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me."

60 Minutes yesterday did a episode about this. The group was called Ritchie Boys. It was very interesting.

There've been a couple productions about The Richie Boys.
