Now that I have you attention - LOL - I picked up the TR8 from the shop yesterday with all new springs, shocks, and poly bushings. I used new rubber spring insulators.

HOLY COW - what a difference. It feels all of one piece now and doesn't float or bounce down the road anymore.

I found myself taking turns a good 10 mpg faster than before and the car stayed nice and flat.

I think I need bigger rims/tires now <grin>.

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts, ideas and coaching on how to pursue the suspension upgrade.

Probably not since it is bring out my, er, more aggressive driving style (still safe)...

it is an awesome upgrade, but not quite awesome enough to improve my gas mileage.
 
Isn't it amazing how easy it is to truely transform these things into road demons. After the tires you'll want bigger brakes and then a bigger motor. Your hooked now. Welcome to the fellowship of the TR8 driving enthusiasts.
 
I couldn't believe how great mine felt with the entire suspension and brake rebuild completed. I was racing to get it home just ahead of a snow storm and it's sat there ever since. I can't wait to get it out in the spring again.
