Not long ago, a couple of teens wrote a book called "Pulling Weeds to Picking Stocks." They actually managed to get their book published. They wanted to raise money to donate to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, which provides scholarships to children of fallen soldiers and law enforcement members.
One of the authors, a 16 year old, called a national radio show (never mind which one - its one of those love it or hate it shows and that's not the point of this thread - PLEASE). The kid asked the host about the cost of advertising on this show and the host asked why, so the kid started talking about a book they had written and how they wanted to donate money to the MCLEF. So the host started asking the kid more about the book and finally asked what the title was and where it could be bought. At that point the kid told the host the name of the book and that it was available on Amazon. Well, just from that brief exposure on national radio, the kid's book went from 500-something on Amazon, to #5 over the weekend!
Just goes to show what a little bit of national exposure can do (and why 1 minute of Super Bowl advertising costs millions$$). Now if I can just figure out how to get some national exposure for British Car Forum!
