T-Series The TC: Before and after[ok 1/2 way to after]

As I was going through some old albums earlier looking for pics of some ugly rims I came across these and thought I'd share them.....These are of my TC the day I picked it up, theres quite a story to how I ended up at that point, I won't get into it now...but I owe someone in the Bahamas big time!...Anyway the car had been in storage since 1964 in different locations thorughout Ontario, eventually ended up in collinwood...a small recreational community....The older woman in the pic was the wife of the owner, who had passed away leaving her to get rid of the car...Mr. Muscle car appraiser came around and with his limited knowledge gave and estimated appraisal...I bought the car as soon as I saw it, and after I left someone else showed up and offered double what I paid....But the owner had taken a liking to me, and my family so she refused to sell it to anyone but myself.
It's almost completely disassembled right now and I am doing a very meticulous restoration, when completeed this car will be my true pride and joy....I've also attached a pic of the transmission I finished this year, the pic really doesn't do justice for the detail thats been put into it, but it does give a nice overview.

Forgive the poor picture quality...I had to scan these as they were taken before the days of digital cameras...Also I still have not figure out how to get my digi camera software to work on this computer.

Oh, thats a black car...I know the color doesn't look right in the first two pics...old camera.
But thanks for the compliment.

I believe that the grills were painted the same color as the interior.

Vey nice car, I have something like it sitting in my garage, a project in the waiting. Please keep us informed as to the restoration progresses.

once again sweeet.

Ok, I see now. The color is shifted a little green in the first two photos. I can clearly see the black in the third photo. That's a whole other story!

You gonna keep the black with red combo? Just for trivia, black was the only color offered by the factory with a red interior. You could also get black with green interior.

Yup, I am keeping the black/red combo....I'd wanted a TC since I got into the MG stuff at 14....I always said black/red was my favorite color as a friend of my fathers had a black/red TD(which I might be aquiring shortly /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif) Luck just had it that I ended up with a car of that color, otherwise I don't believe in changing the color of a car, especially a car like the TC.

3 MGBs... 2 are 78's and 1 is a 80 LE. Still a lot of cars... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Trying to give Tony a run for his money? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

and don't forget the partridge in a pear tree!

Next he is going to have his own show, hope there are lots of pics and he wins a prize.

heh... funny... when you said show I though "The Red Green Show"... Canadian humor at its finest that is! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Well thanks for the encouraging words...but I actually want to decrease the collection soon...I just can't keep up with them all anymore....But like I said the TD is owned by a friend, and I always told him I wanted first shot at the car when he was ready to sell....It's an original owner, original paint, low mileage TD...The last time I saw it, it was in perfect show car condition...but he tells me it will need a little cleaning and brakes to get back to it's former glory...We'll see, my main problem is no storage, and I'd hate to see it sitting outside.

BTW: Steve, your not too far from me anyway...how about a nice 80 LE to round off your collection, then we'd be nice and even at 6 MG's each /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Oh, and one day(once the TC is finished) I plan to round up a bunch of drivers and take them all to Britsh car day /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I think in that case I might like the 48 MGTC please.

How is Southern California not far from Ontario, Canada? LOL! No thanks anyway, I really don't care at all for rubber bumper MGBs. In fact anything after the early metal dash MGB doesn't excite me in the least. But the TD sounds like a real opportunity. I say sell two of the MGBs and get the TD. You save space, make money to pay for the TD and decrease the average year model of your collection greatly! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I won't sell the 78's....they've been promised to my two boys....and I'll probably never find another MGB up here in that kinda condition(especially a pair of MGB's) Their both below 20k miles...original paint, bought from original owners,ect....The LE is suppose to be going up for sale soon, I wanted to compliment the black TC, but it just doesn't make sense to have 3 rb MGB's....The TR6 kinda came outta nowhere, so now it's taking up space, time and money....BTW: I've never really liked the styling of the TD's....It looks kinda like a clowns car to me, don't get me wrong I love all MG's....but if I had to choose an ugly duckling it would be the TD, but this one is a once in a lifetime opportunity...so I am gunna do my best to accomidate.

I knew I forgot something....I am actually a big fan of the late MGB's....I've owned loads of B's(probably 15-20)...both early and late and I tend to be attracted to the later cars, mostly because they feel a little more driveable and modern...the later ones feel a little too close to an MGA, which I already have two of.

We're opposite there. The reason I don't like later MGBs (awkward, heavy rubber bumpers aside) is that they feel too modern. I prefer a vintage motoring experience when I drive my classics. If I want modern and cushy, I can drive my wife's car! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I agree to a certain extent on the TD. While they are far from the worst-looking MG produced, they are not my favotire. They are a strange mix of modern and pre-war with those small wide wheels and other modern bits bolted onto a more "bubbly" TC-style body. They are definitely one of the most classic MGs ever made, but I greatly prefer the look of the TA/B/C and even the TF, which should have been released instead of the TD.
