The "sound" of HUMANS:

As Endeavor came "home" we were privy to the double boom of th' thing slowing to sub-sound. What an amazing thing human imagination is. Galileo would be pleased.

Yes, Doc, I think he would be absolutely thrilled. I'd love to live long enough to see the first Mars mission, what a milestone for exploration!

I happen to like the unmanned probes, lots cheaper, practically the same info gathered.

Maestro Galileo would possibly be more thrilled that they don't draw and quarter astronomers anymore (they just cut their budgets off!) :eeek:

He was "in on the ground floor".

...yet another example that ya never wanna be the FIRST at something. Once it's a proven "trend" all ya gotta do is out market the Other Guys. :jester:

We were out in th' front yard, hoping to glimpse the thing comin' in. Bit too low a trajectory for us to see, too many big trees. But the boom-BOOM was dramatic. It "broke wind" south of us by about 150 miles. A neighbor ran out of her front door and excitedly asked: "What was THAT?!?!" I told her it was the shuttle coming in for landing, she said it rattled her house like it was a bomb goin' off... wasn't aware of the shuttle mission at all. Now THAT's scary.
