Could someone be kind enough to post a picture of which side of the transmission the slave cylinder goes on a tr3A? I had one once but not sure where it is. This way I will have it in this computer.

The guys who shot this seemed to know what's what...

Okay, not that you need a second opinion after that, but here's mine...

Yeah, no spring and the pushrod sticks way out -- both possibly do to a broken clutch fork pin that I've driving with since Reagan was in the White House.

Due to what I suspect is a broken clutch fork pin, if I install the spring the piston is returned too far to operate the clutch. Been that way for 30 year so no real incentive to pull out the gearbox and fix it until something else is needed.

Geo, I notice in the picture you posted your slave cylinder rod is very sloped from the transmission down into the slave cylinder, whereas the manual picture (with the numbers) shows it as going straight into the slave cylinder. The slave on my TR3A slopes what appears to be even more than yours. I have a TR4 transmission in mine and was wondering if that is what is causing the slope. It seems to me it would be best to have the rod go exactly (or nearly) straight into the cylinder, both vertically and horizontally. On mine I put a spacer between the big thick bracket and the transmission on the bottom bolt so that the cylinder lines up better with the transmission lever. Not sure if that is a good thing to do or not. I haven't been able to drive it much since I did that, so not sure if I created a problem or prevented one. Any opinions on that? Thanks!
Regards,
Bob

I have also noticed some variance in the mounting bracket itself. I took some pictures, but my camera is low quality perhaps when social security goes up I get a better camera. I set the 2 brackets on top of each other, and if you look at how the holes are drilled you can see what I mean. I think they are both off a 58 but maybe a 61 and 58 tr3.

That's quite a difference in the brackets - and the position they would put the slave cylinder in. But I'm not at all sure that some reasonable angle in that pushrod is a problem since the cylinder end of the rod is just a rounded tip that fits into cup formed on the end of the piston.
