Heard (on NPR) an interesting and succinct way to describe any "free" service on the internet. This would pertain to Google, Facebook and many others. "If it's free, then YOU are the product." [of course, referring to the sale of your information or patterns of use]

Anybody use DuckDuck Go ?

I have too, and was actually just about to start a thread asking that question. Google is forcing iGoogle/Picasa users into Google+ which is a social networking platform. That's what pushed me to DuckDuckGo.

I used DuckDUckGo but it's a poor search engine so I switched back to Google. - But I'll admit......Google is becoming sort of like Lord vader.

I'm also understanding that Google's coding for their Chrome browser is making it very difficult for Chrome users to set DuckDuckGo their default browser. The FTC is set to investigate this among others of Google's business tactics.

I particularly like the fact that I can get unfiltered results from DuckDuckGo. Trying to do a search for specific details with Google by slightly changing the search parameters multiple times becomes pointless when Google eventually presents the same returns regardless of the search terms. I also like that Duck links to several competitors' search engines (Amazon, Bing, Google Images, News, Wiki etc) to allow them to be searched through Duck.

DuckDuckGo and ixquick here.

I never use Google, I use Bing mostly, works well for me, but seems to be linked to Yahoo now. Because of that, I might change. I don't like Yahoo, as it gets too personal, probably why I don't like Facebook either! Oh well, to each his/her own. PJ

For you Bing users
Have you signed up to be paid thru them yet?
