The Original Sprite

The first Sprite...actually, it's a Riley Sprite; a neat litle Brit roadster built in the 30s. A "TT racer" version of the Riley Sprite was also built.

These cars had a hemi twin cam engine that was later used in the Healey Silverstone (so there really is an Austin Healey connection to these cars).
Later, Riley was taken over by BMC, where the name was mostly used on tarted-up Minis like the one in this link:
