The Northwest's New Road Race Track

That is great news for you guys in the northwest.

We've had three new tracks (NJMP, Monticello and Shenandoah at Summit Point) open in the last few years. It's great to see these new places (although I still miss Bridgehampton). We have two more new ones that may be built in the next few years.

One thing that most folks forget: race tracks are generally a "good neighbour" industry with surprisingly little negative enviromental impact. Mostly, they are "open space". Even the sound issues can easily be dealt with (through sound barriers and mufflers).

Congrats and hope you enjoy it!

Since the topic is new tracks, I would like to add that if any are interested in playing in S. Fl., former Moroso Raceway has made some major improvements to their 2.25 mile road course, added grandstands and is now known as Palm Beach International Raceway. A link to their site:

SVRA has an event scheduled there one week after the Sebring 12 hour weekend--I hope to do both. I'm told that the lake is gone and the corner workers will no longer have scuba gear.

Meantime the racing scene on the Canadian prairies utterly sucks!

Essentially two road course tracks to service a very large area (maybe down to one soon) *sigh*

Excuse me for being a little bitter

Update,

The Track was paved during the great fall weather we had in Oregon. Here's an in car trip around the track. Oh ya, we are bracing for a snow storm this weekend. I feel for those already dealing with the fluffy white stuff, especially those in the east.
