The "New" Prisoner

Is anyone watching this new series on AMC? No more S7 --- It's now a WRX. I've only seen the first hour and need to see more before I make up my mind...

Re: The "New" Prisoner

I'm curious about it but don't get AMC. I like the fact that they're using the premise but trying to give the show it's own voice. A carbon copy of the original would not be good.

I wasn't disappointed with it at all! I expected it was going to be lousy, and it was

Re: The "New" Prisoner

I almost forgot: the automated "shakey cam" effect really gets annoying. I can imagine someone who is prone to car sickness might not make it through an episode. At least when they used that on "24" it was some pretty significant camera motion - this one is just noticable to be annoying.

They also use the "I'm a 14 year old with a camcorder on a cheap walmart tripod" effect. That's the one that, when the camera pans it goes past the desired point of focus, snaps back, then floats away, then snaps back again.

They don't use them on every scene but...man it's annoying.

Ugh. Then I'm glad I can't see it. Both of those tropes annoy the bejeebus out of me. I mean, really. It's clearly a fictional show, not a documentary or guerrilla filming. Please produce it like one.

Re: The "New" Prisoner

Just like there is only one James Bond (Connery - no discussion), there is only one #6 (McGoohan).

Aside from Bedford vans and Morris Minors, what car is the taxi?

Be seein ya...

I'm just wondering what happened to Dollhouse.

Re: The "New" Prisoner

So I kind of liked it myself... but I might be a little more receptive to change than some people

but I have a couple of car-related questions.

Obviously the Taxi is a Renault Daphine... And one of Two's cars is a Daimler of some sort.

What car is the little 2 seater convertible?

And what is Two's kinda-razor-edged black car with headlights that look like they are straight off of a Triumph Herald?

Re: The "New" Prisoner

I don't think that it's a question of being resistant to change, it's just that I find this version to be quite bland. It's about Big Brother so it needs some edge to it. I am still working my way through it on the DVR, so hopefully it gets better.

On the car theme, I spotted a Ford Anglia in the last episode I watched.

Re: The "New" Prisoner

Exactly what Ian said. It wasn't that it was different, it was that it was just plain bad.
