Here's a drawing [attachment] of what the new MG is supposed to look like. It's to be built in Ardmore, Oklahoma,(at the Ardmore Air Park), outside of Oklahoma City. Also in China and England. I think it looks pretty cool! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif PJ

its not a convertable.

This looks very, very like the MGF sold for several years past here in the UK.

You could see lots of them on the e-bay UK site. Here's one picked at random:

How does that compare? Looks pretty similar to the drawings to me.

It'd be nice to have it back in production....

That looks almost exactly like the MG GT concept car that was featured in one of the '05 issues of the UK mag TotalMG. (Now known as MG Enthusiast magazine.)

They did an entire spread discussing the car. It was very handsome. I hope that they are still planning a droptop though.

That's not bad looking at all. Would make a heck of a nice work car. hope they leave the plastic out of it and keep it simple.

Wow! It sure does look like the MGF. Amazing! I sure do like the looks of it though. I would almost bet they will build a drop top, [convertable], after testing the market. I haven't seen an estimated price yet. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif PJ

The convertible is supposed to be built in the UK.But we'll have to wait and see if either car hits the roads in the US or the UK.Yes,I know, pessimistic. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Stuart. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Think I would not count my chickens before they hatched.

I'd save up for one! Well, provided the headlights looked a little less like a Dodge Neons' (and with a slicker interior, too).

Wonder if it will have A/C, what will you bet.

Well, I emailed the corporate headquarters when they first announced it & asked to put my name on list for one of the first ones - even gave them my web site o they could see my collection - never heard anything back!

It’s all hype until they put ‘em in the dealer’s showroom! And who would those dealers be? Yada, yada, yada, so many have tried this for the big Healey’s. Gee, you can even put a deposit on a new Healey, if you want: https://www.hfiautomotive.com/press.html Where’s that going, deals made, deals off, announcements made, etc.

I’d be in line with Tony, I’d love to put a deposit on a new MG, I’d use it as a driver, even at $40K, or so…

Can you say Bricklin, Delorean? It takes a monumental effort to supply and support, I’d love to see it happen, but MG was even unwilling to export the F to the US market, despite all of our clamor, I wouldn’t bank on this happening.

Call me a spoiler; prove me wrong, please!

It seems that there is a lot of dislike for the new MG as it doesn't look like an MG. Too modern some say. Look at it this way. By not looking like the old classics as we know them, there won't be any competition in the market place between the two. The new Chinese MG, if they ever build it, will be just that! A new Chinese car with a displaced logo on it, not what we know as an MG! After looking into the situation more, I wish that they'd just dropped the MG marque for good and keep it's symbol in the UK where it belongs! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif Just my 2 cents worth! PJ

I'll be on the list.
Each time I go to the UK I get my hands on my brothers MG ZR, and that is one one of the best cars I've ever driven, even if the badge is misplaced. I don't think they'll have a problem selling them at all as long as they keep to the design. The Ford Thunderbird is one ugly car, I think they went too far back and put a ridiculous price tag on that.
Let's face it, from a business point of view, there is demand for them and that will increase with a good marketting campaign. Where there is demand, supply will follow.

Sure, as long as build quality is as good as, if not better than, the Mazda MX-5, the Pontiac Solstice, and the Saturn Sky the new MG F/TF roadster and Coupe ought to sell well. However, that's exactly what worries me, given my past experiences with Chinese products I'm not exactly optimistic here. I like the styling of the car. I just hope the quality doesn't disappoint.
