New SoCal Rally Coming Up

Hello, Everyone,

Our long event this year will be MIDNIGHT RUN, Saturday, Sept. 26. A special feature of having

the rally on this particular night is that the full moon will be rising as the sun sets, and

you'll be running above 7000' when it happens. Should be good.

Registration opens at eleven am at the fabulous Flying J in Lebec, off I-5 at Exit 205. First

car out is 2:01pm. Total length of the event is under 400 miles and under 10 hours. There are

breaks sprinkled throughout the day.

The Course Controls, which are spots along the course where you go to find a missing letter or

other info, will run like this: You go to the spot listed for each Course Control and collect

the normal missing info and write it on your Control Card, AND you also must take a selfie

which includes car, driver, navigator, the Course Control sign, and the landmark or natural

feature shown with the sign. You're allowed 2 minutes to accomplish this each time it happens.

We think it will break up the drive and add to the fun. We'll be posting these as we go.

We'll cover a wide variety of terrain and roads, from high chapparal to desert red rock, from

joshua trees to sequoias, redwoods and ponderosa pines, from river valleys to wide open

farmland. We'll go over a pass at 9200 feet. We'll hit a couple of good stretches with 5 or

more straight miles with no sideroads, driveways, or stop signs. There are a few twisty spots,

but mostly fast, sweeping roads with spectacular vistas. You do not want to miss this one.

See you at Standoff.
