the MG woe

I bought a mg thinking it was great
only to discover it's life was fate
dollar after dollar left this way
pretty little bolts to please my day.

I knew it's a project and I must go slow
all I wanted was for it to roll
I see it sitting alone and cold
must have been something when new and bold.

so painfully I accept that engines get worn
kinda like me old, tattered and torn
but what she don't know is I have a plan
for I am an owner and a fair old man.

So bolt by bolt she reveals her strife
longing memories of a run at night
little leaks here and little dings there
how beautiful she is when I give her that glare.

Lovingly I repair and heal her wounds
in utmost respect while I talk with her
for I know soon enough she will be back in my hands
my foot to the rubber and raised adrenal glands.

These are our babies and we care for them so
because we know that someday they will go
off to another perhaps a less caring soul
we do it for honor for pride and for show.

These are reflections of who we are
it is not just a silly little car
it is a testament of who we are
and the respect of any little british car.
