Craigslist ads. Don't know whether to laugh or just give in to the creep-out feelings.

First, from an establishment here in LA that regularly offers cars at about twice what they should go for. This one has never been in an accident; I guess it got its crumpled bumper, bent grill, and cocked hood during the salesman's alien abduction.

Next, the "English version" of an MG Midget, as opposed to the Burundian version, I suppose. At first I thought he might mean it's right-hand drive, but although it's not very clear in the pictures, the steering wheel is definitely on the left.

Here's a bugeye for $8K, looks nice for that price, but for the dreaded words, "ran when parked...needs TLC..." Nice hardtop, though.

Then, you can get both for $10K.

Finally, this one started at $3000, which seems a tad high for a non-running rust bucket, dropped to $1500, where it of course didn't sell, either. So, what to do? Raise the price! Back to $2000. No title, either, but I'm sure the DMV won't mind registering it in my name. They don't care if I can't prove ownership.

OK, I know I'm treading on the edge of list policy with this, but I finally reached a tipping point. I do feel a little sorry for some of these people, who probably need to sell their cars but clearly won't, if only for lack of a few minutes on ebay to research their values. Silliness like the "English version" MG leaves a knowledgeable shopper wondering if he can trust anything else in the description. And, to show a car with clear accident damage and claim that it's never been in an accident--does the seller really think we're all that stupid?

I don't think the seller thinks we're all that stupid - he only needs 1.

That being said, let them try - and FWIW none of those is a rust bucket compared to here.

But I do agree it gets crazy...

No no no, it was the ~other~ car that was in the accident.

This one was ~parked~ when the other one hit it...
