I'm taking it up to my moms for storage. If you look past the surface rust the car is still in great shape. Little rot and the reason for the ugly paint is this. She was repainted to show spec in 1983 and won first in class many a time. Turns out the "reputable" body man did not prep the body correctly or prime it correctly. The paint simply started flaking off in huge brittle pieces. The leather interior is imaculate still as is the wood trim and the trunk is still showroom original with tools and spare. In a year or so my mom will probably have the body re-done.

More room for MG's although she is letting me keep a few up there

You're not too far away. Need someone to take it off your hands?
I could give her a repaint, and have a ball.
hehehehe.

Think IO'd do something to that body sooner than a year or so

&, hot poker up the wazoo of the "reputable" body man comes to mind!

Wish I had so many collector cars I did not have room for them all !

Believe it or not Tony it has looked more or less like this for about 10 years.

As I look at the paint chips that are scattered about eh driveway and garage, there is not a drop of primer on them. BRG all the way through. Unless his primer was BRG also, this guy took my mom to the cleaners. Shame really I still have the trophies, plaques and judges scorecards for it. She has only 43,000 original miles and has been in my family since the dealer.

V12 sedans aren't all that common any longer either... I'd be lookin' for that body man too. He needs a rocket up his

I did that popping the hood.

Did you check out the AM/FM 8 track? There a few boxes of 'em in the trunk. I thnink I was listening to Parnoid by Black Sabbath the last time I had it out.

It's amazing which parts sell for Hundreds and others that sell for pennies. Radios seem to be the ones that sell for the most.

Nice... I've always liked the XJ6/XJ12 Series 1

That front end is quite handsome, in comparison to the later Series 2 & 3

I agree and nice description "Handsome". It has a rich look to it - royal.

Very nice photos Sherlock! I love the black & white. To me it gives the photos more depth by eliminating the, "confusion"?, for lack of a better word, that color adds to the picture. My favorite shots are off hand facial shots of old people. Not posing, just natural.
