Watching the original "Italian Job" last night, for the first time in quite a few years, and was *absolutely horrified* at the point where the mafia trash first an E-type coupe and then an E-type roadster, with a bulldozer. I was slightly less shocked by the Aston Martin's demise.

It was quite traumatizing!

They do that on purpose to increase the value of remaining E-types.

Supposedly the 2 E-types were rebuilt and the Aston was actually a Lancia under the skin.

Take a look at the movie "Those Magnificent Men and Their Flying Machines" some time. About half way through, there is a long scene of AX201 racing across the air fields - ruts, bumps, rabbit holes and all, chasing after one of the pilots and his machine. No damage so to speak but still makes the old jaw drop!

The original Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, chassis number 60551 - known worldwide by its registration number AX 201 - is quite possibly the most travelled, as well as the most valuable car in the world. Should it ever be sold, estimates of its value range from £10,000,000 to £30,000,000. It is reputed to be insured for £25,000,000.

The Silver Ghost is also a film star - it appeared in the 1965 film Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines.
