Some Oscars will come out of that film. A top-drawer film.
Hard to imagine how awful it was for blacks and minorities back then. This movie serves as reminder of how things have changed, for the good. Especially in the "old south".
I told a woman I work with( who is of African American decent) she should watch it. She passed. Said it would be too hard to watch. It is interesting how 2 people can see the same movie ( or hear about it) and come to totally different conclusions about it. I totally understand where she was coming from, but I still think she would like the movie. Even though the movie took place nearly 50 years ago I know someone just like everyone in the movie, good, bad, and ugly.
I guess I share similar "yea/nay" feelings. I grew up in Texas in the 1950s. There were some things in the culture I saw then, that I never want to see again.
