No, not the band!
My 73 TR6 passenger door rattles; I've checked by grasping the door handle and the door can move a bit up and down on the latch which causes a clunky noise going over bumps.
Can the latch mechanism be adjusted or is it a case of replacing components?

The latches can be adjusted. It's best to get a few paint sticks that are liberally covered with masking tape to use as guides if you loosen the latch on the door very slightly to get the door in proper alignment all around. These can be wedged between the door (without marring the paint) and the body/rocker/fender to keep an even gap all around.

Once aligned, slowly open the door and tighten it down. Then you can check it by just closing the door to touch the striker. If it stayed in the proper place before you tightened it, the door should easily push and click into a locked position. If not, move slightly up or down to get it right.

Excessive movement could be the result of worn hinge pins which would require replacement of the hinges. I am not aware of replacement pins.

OOP's!! My bad Doug. I assumed that the hinges were checked.
